The 224 properties of Samaan Grove lie on Golden
Grove Road just where
TRUE COUNTRYSIDE
begins,
overflowing with tropical flora and fauna. The entrance to
the gated community of Samaan Grove is imposing, with
a shingled guard booth and lots of gorgeous foliage. The
entrance’s curving wall encircles the Samaan Grove model
home called Columbus… apt enough considering the
many pleasing discoveries you make within its walls!

on lot 1 on the left – and its welcoming proximity to the warm,
transparent Caribbean sea.
The layout of Columbus is both unusual and aesthetically appealing, with
vistas onto greenery or the
SPARKLING POOL AND PATIO
area.
Conceived by John Otway, Columbus reflects his passion for a Caribbean
style that allows breezes to freely flow through the home, keeping it cool
and airy and minimizing the need for air conditioning. many of John’s
designs make use of traditional louvered windows through which air
currents flow and which can be left open or kept closed.
Enter through the automatic gate, which has an external intercom.
The
GRASSCRETED COURTYARD
easily holds three cars.
You notice the beautiful tiled roof that is so perfect for the Tobago
style of living. These tiles are actually made from recycled plastic
bottles – a choice which is typical of the developer’s commitment to
environmental sustainability. What you don’t see is that the home’s
pump room, storage and water tanks are secreted here. Instead, a
quaint roofed entryway beckons you into a cool passageway where a
curved side table cum hat stand holds interesting artifacts with space
for keys and the contents of your pockets.
To your left is the
compact and completely
KITTED-OUT
KITCHEN
– every
modern convenience
has its place, and every
gadget its drawer. The
kitchen annexes the
laundry room with
stackable washer and
dryer.
A practical, attractive and deliciously aromatic
design feature is the creation of a spice garden
right outside the kitchen! It borders the tiled
deck where a BBQ area has been created with an
OUTDOOR SINK
and large stainless steel cooker
and preparation area. This huge entertainment
area, which is also accessed on two other sides by
the living/tv room and master bedroom, can host
wonderful parties with many guests!
on the other side of the kitchen is the
DINING ROOM
with its circular table
fitting perfectly into this intimate area.
This space, the living room and tv area
flow into one another. The later can
have a co-ordinated design as one or two
spaces. External doors fold open to the
pool, giving the illusion of a home that is
significantly more spacious.
Susan Kenny has selected a wonderful mix of artisanal and
contemporary fittings for this area that blend perfectly. A flat
screen television, including a dvd/cd player, is neatly placed
in the living room’s built-in wall unit. she has filled the
home with unusual prints and

and throughout the home the bold use of colour reflects the
strong island heritage.
EACH BEDROOM
is
beautifully and elegantly
composed, with tasteful
art, fine furniture and
luxurious linens. From
the master bedroom,

cool, blue pool and
